Ever hear of “the Cat Distribution System?”
It’s the idea that the world decided “this person needs a cat” and putting one in their way to join their home.
If you’ve ever had a kitty just “show up out of nowhere”, congrats, the fates picked you to get a kitty family member!
Which vaccines does my cat need?
Depending on your cat’s needs, lifestyle, and age, the vet may have different recommendations for what they need.
Rabies is typically required for most rentals and some counties require it. If you have a kitten you may also be recommended the FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVR), Calicivirus (C), and Panleukopenia (P) to prevent a veriety of illness that can effect your kitty over their lifetime.
Why does my cat need vaccines?
Vaccines help prevent illness that can severely affect your kitty co-pilot’s quality of life. Some deathly illness can even be prevented entirely by keeping up to date on their vaccines, such as the rabies vaccine.
There are different types of vaccines, live vs killed, 1 year vs 5 year, and optional ones such as the FeLV vaccine. Your vet will go over any questions you may have as well as recommend which, if any, vaccines your kitties should get at their yearly visits.
Super Star Of The Month
Meet the cutest little Tri-pod, Sweet Pea!
We met Sweet Pea this month, and his story is so sweet.
We asked his new co-pilot for a little snippet of their sweet story with Sweet Pea:
“Sweet Pea was rescued on 7/13, just three days after his big sis Maggie unexpectedly crossed the rainbow bridge on 7/10. Coincidentally, Sweet Pea lost his limb that same day. He was found with a tibial fracture, and amputation was the best option.
We felt Maggie was sending us signs, and knew Sweet Pea was meant to be ours. Losing her felt like losing a limb, so it’s even more special to be healing together.
He’s named after Amos Lee (who has a song called “Sweet Pea”) and he totally lives up to his name! He is motivated by snuggles and loves to lounge on a lap. We’re so grateful for Galaxy Cats as he finds his way as a tripod!”
